Carbonation vs. Steam Cleaning

When it comes to keeping your home healthy and clean, you want to ensure you’re getting the best clean possible. And Metro Chem-Dry has the answer. Chem-Dry’s Hot Carbonating Extraction (HCE) cleaning process is different than steam cleaning. Some benefits of carbonation include:

  • It doesn’t use a lot of water
  • It has a faster drying time
  • Your carpets will stay cleaner for longer
  • It gets rid of reappearing stains for good

So how does carbonation work? What makes it better than steam cleaning?

How Does it Work?

We don't soak your carpets with gallons of water like steam cleaners. Our HCE process uses about 80% less water. This works by sending millions of microscopic carbonated bubbles deep into your carpet fibers. The bubbles explode the dirt off of the fibers. Then, they lift the dirt particles to the surface. Our powerful extraction equipment then removes the dirt and grime from the surface. Since we use so much less water, carpets cleaned by Chem-Dry will dry in only 1 to 2 hours.

How Does it Keep My Carpet Cleaner for Longer?

Because of the natural power of carbonation, we don’t have to use lots of water to clean your carpet and upholstery. Because the bubbles do the work, we don’t need to use the soapy cleaning chemicals that other cleaners rely on. Those soapy residues attract dirt like a magnet. This often causes your carpets to get dirty again shortly after cleaning.

Our core cleaner, The Natural, doesn’t have any soaps, detergents, or surfactants. When your carpet stays cleaner longer, it will need fewer professional cleanings, and you’ll save money!

How Does it Get Rid of Reappearing Stains?

Carpet stains that reappear after cleaning are frustrating. There are two common reasons why this happens. One reason is that they were never completely removed to begin with. Often, high-pressure steam cleaners force the stain-causing material below the carpet's surface. When the carpet dries, it will resurface. Another reason is that the cleaning solution that many steam cleaners use can create a sticky residue. This residue attracts new dirt and grime to the same location as the old stain.

Through our use of carbonation, Chem-Dry completely removes stains quickly and efficiently. We apply our solutions sparingly and without high pressure or excessive water. So resurfacing stains are not usually a problem. However, in the rare instances where a spot does reappear, we will too, until it's gone.
